About Us

Founded in 1974 as the first organized girls’ soccer league in the United States, WAGS helped ignite a movement that forever changed opportunities for girls in the game.

Today, WAGS – Women and Girls in Soccer is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering and advancing women and girls through the sport of soccer. What began as a pioneering league has evolved into a mission-driven organization that invests in programs, partnerships, and initiatives that create meaningful opportunities for women and girls throughout the soccer community.

Through sponsorships, educational initiatives, leadership programs, scholarships, and professional development opportunities, WAGS supports and champions women and girls in soccer across the United States and around the world.

For more than 50 years, WAGS has remained committed to strengthening the role of women in the game supporting players, coaches, referees, and leaders who are shaping the future of soccer.

Our mission is to empower women and girls through soccer by sponsoring programs, supporting education, and creating opportunities that foster leadership, character, and lifelong involvement in the game.
