Referee Education and Support

WAGS is committed to increasing the quantity and quality of female soccer referees in the United States. Programs will include partnerships with clubs, leagues, state and national associations to promote female referees.

Most recent – WAGS All Female Refreee Course was held in Virginia Beach March 3rd and 4th at the Virginia Beach Field House.  We certified 17 new female referees!!

Upcoming: We will have another exciting opportunity for New Referee training coming in a few months (target date November 2019)  this time in Maryland at Towson University.  Check back for details they will be posted as soon as available.

Exciting News !!! So far WAGS has sponsored and helped certified 76 New Female Referees since March 2018.

WAGS Sponsored Female-Only New Referee graduates from our August 4th & 5th training course in Richmond, VA

Classroom & On-Field Training: Curriculum included pre-class online tutorials, classroom instruction on the Laws of the Game (LOTG) as well as on-field training in mechanics, positioning, and teamwork. A written test was given and graded at the end of the class and all participants who received a passing grade were newly certified soccer referees – 100% PASSED. Instructors also provided additional information about next steps to begin working as a soccer referee.

Upon successful completion of the course, all registration fees the candidates paid was reimbursed by WAGS!
